Our founders, who were Peace Corps volunteers and NGO workers, saw the potential for sustainable and socially responsible tourism in Morocco and set out to create a company that would not only offer unforgettable experiences for travelers, but also support local causes and initiatives. Today, we are proud to be a leading tour company in Morocco, offering unique and authentic experiences while maintaining our commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism.

Inspired by the entrepreneurial story of Ken and the success of Adventure Tours Australia, we set out to create unforgettable adventures for explorers seeking an authentic and immersive Moroccan experience.
Like Ken’s “little bus that could,” our humble beginnings saw us start with a small team and a shared vision. We began by offering unique tours that allowed travelers to delve into the hidden gems of Morocco, unveiling its rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking landscapes. As word spread about the exceptional experiences we provided, our fleet expanded, and our team grew to include knowledgeable local guides who shared their passion for Morocco with our guests.

2. Our local guides
At Moroccan Expeditions, we believe in providing our guides with the necessary training and qualifications to ensure that they can lead our tours at the highest standards. Before becoming trip leaders, all our guides undergo a comprehensive in-house training program that covers both practical and knowledge-based components.
Our guides at Moroccan Expeditions are a passionate and knowledgeable group of individuals who take great pleasure in showcasing the beauty and culture of their country to our travelers. They possess a deep understanding and love for Morocco, and are always eager to share their expertise and insights with those who embark on a journey with us.
During this training, our guides acquire essential skills such as first aid certification and National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) accreditation. They also participate in courses on local culture, regional geology…
Our guides are not only skilled in driving and vehicle maintenance but also possess expertise in first aid administration, fatigue management, environmental awareness, cooking, food handling, and catering. Additionally, they have a deep understanding of the histories, cultures of First Nations, geology, ecology, botany, and bushcraft of the regions we explore.
After completing their training, our guides undergo an on-the-road traineeship alongside a senior guide. During this period, they further refine their skills, knowledge, and confidence by serving as assistant guides. This hands-on experience prepares them for their first solo tour, ensuring they are fully equipped to provide an exceptional experience to our travelers.
3 . Level of fitness
At Moroccan Expeditions, we understand that every traveler has different physical capabilities and preferences when it comes to adventure. That’s why we provide physical ratings alongside our trip descriptions to help you choose the right experience for you. These ratings are designed to give you an idea of the level of physical exertion required for each trip, allowing you to select a journey that aligns with your fitness level and desired intensity.
Our physical ratings are as follows:
1 out of 5: Minimal physical exertion required. These trips are suitable for all fitness levels and involve activities that are relatively easy and accessible.
2 out of 5: Tours that include easy walking. These trips involve gentle walks or hikes that can be enjoyed by individuals with a basic level of fitness.
3 out of 5: Walks that’ll get your heart rate up for extended periods in the elements. These trips may include moderate hikes or walks that require a reasonable level of fitness and stamina.
4 out of 5: Some long and challenging walks in remote regions with limited communication & emergency services access. These trips are more physically demanding and may involve long hikes or treks in rugged terrain. A good level of fitness and preparation is required.
5 out of 5: The hardest of the hardcore. These trips are for the most adventurous and physically fit individuals. They involve long journeys to very remote destinations with limited or no communication and emergency services access. Excellent health and fitness are essential for these challenging expeditions.
